A Summer Night's Dream by Kim Su Bak

 14/02/26

The manhwa A Summer Night's Dream by Kim Su Bak is a romance story that follows the female lead and teacher Yeoreum Han as she plays the important role of Cupid. She has the ability to enter into students' dreams, and with this, she is able to manipulate the dreams to her will. This ability is later revealed to a student who can lucid dream, Si-u Park, forcing them to navigate the growth of love and friendship together.

Happy Valentines day, everyone!! Right now I am chilling at home, as my boyfriend happens to be on the otherside of the country, hehe. I happened to buy a few items for my saxophone, though, and I am excited to do many lessons! Anyways, since it was Valentines day, I thought a book that is heavily about romance and Cupid should be the next review. However, I had read this book a long time ago, so I may be quite vague in this review. Let me just tell you how I first discovered this, though. I think I was around year 7 when I first read this. At that moment in time, I think I was quite fresh on Webtoon. I think at that time I was living with my nan's and would sneakily read until late. (Sorry about that, Nan.) I happened to come across this and caught a glimpse of the artstyle which was the first thing that caught my eye. The title cover felt like something you would see in K-dramas. So I gave it a read and actually managed to finish it. I think I quite enjoyed how relaxing it felt. I also think I managed to read this manhwa due to how funny it was and generally the cool concepts that were involved. I do believe their were discussion about suicide relating to the male lead, but I believe it did make me feel a little bit emotional.

Uhm, I do have to mention that it is sort of a student x teacher romance. I hate this trope. I have no idea why a lot of books have it. For me, it irks me a lot. I see teachers as mentors and nothing else. I believe she is a student teacher and has not much of an age gap; however, it is still a bit uncomfortable.

I wonder if anyone is reading this. Would you like to be Cupid?

I'll give you my answer. Seeing people happy is one thing I would perhaps enjoy about being a cupid. Though I believe love should not be meddled with. Perhaps a push, but not gently pulling at the strings. I may had a different opinion when I was younger, growing up, though I have seen negative impacts in meddling with others' romantic feelings.

Anyways, this manhwa I remember many feelings from it. It is a bit tough to remember plot points on it. Sometimes I wish I had written my reviews back then... The artstyle and comedy were great. I generally remember feeling refreshed after reading this. So, with my vague description, you could also try reading this manhwa. I hope your Valentine's is great!

I give this a:

7/10

Byeeee!
