One Husband Is Enough by Go Seon-Yeong

 21/04/26

 The plot:

The romance manhwa One Husband Is Enough features Go Seon-Yeong, an office worker who desires love after escaping her abusive home life. In the process of being free, she buys a virtual reality headset and enters a romance game. Relating to one of the optional female leads, Crocetta, she chooses her and raises the charm stats to max. What she didn't know was that her choice would bind her to the game, preventing her escape. Tortured by the people who fall victim to her charm. However, will Crocetta survive? Will she have to raise the male lead's love?

Opinions and Discovery:

Hello everyone, school just started again, and I'm waiting for my legal studies report draft. Wish me luck!!! So today I wanted to review a manhwa that is still very fresh in my head and honestly tortured me. I felt like I was going to become bald, not in a bad way, either. So, anyway, I discovered this manhwa when I was on the yandere male lead Reddit, and I stumbled upon this work. It was a picture of the female lead with this guy, who seemed like a black flag, and I thought that was very interesting. It is currently still ongoing, but I have read it up to chapter 91 and can't wait to read more. It's like a drama, where you just feel so frustrated all the time, but want to see the ending and want to read more. Currently, there are like 4 guys the female lead could fall in love with, and there is literally only one I like. I think the others are better off as friends, or even better, not knowing at all. Anyways I think this manhwa does really well as a horror rather than a romance, so I will put this down as horror. Imagine having the ability to make people love you or even be obsessed with you in that manner; it would be terrifying. Like, I guess it benefits you getting the one you love, but it creates even more problems when avoiding people.

I guess if I were in that situation, I would lose my mind mentally and physically and disappear into the ocean if I could. So if you like a manhwa that is frustrating but leaves you hanging off your seat, be my guest! Especially when she picks the wrong male leads to be with, to not ruin her one and only(〒﹏〒). Also, my friends said their names are funny, lol.

Characters and design:

Crocetta, the female lead, was originally supposed to be the neglected illegitimate daughter. Unfortunately, this ceased to be after maxing the charm stats in the game. Crocetta is a women that yearns for love, something that she hadn't had much of in reality, which is quite sad. At first, she is seen as a very analytical and a fairly good actor when it comes to wanting to get her way, and manages to find the most suitable husband. She has long, wavy blonde hair and piercing magenta eyes, which is kind of cool for a female lead. I believe that she looks good in a villainess role, too. At first, Crocetta acts fairly innocent and looks like she cares about the people around her. Progressing from the beginning, though, she has been torn and is losing her mental state. She is not a female lead who is like the innocent and lovely kind; she is the type to disregard other people and treat others as objects instead of beings. However, I do understand this, as when people look at her, they all have the same feelings, 'love'. Love used to be Crocetta's goal, but after experiencing torture from it, love is like a curse. With Crocetta, I think she looks good in light blue dresses, but generally, I think she looks good in any dress. I honestly feel like she should have ordered a mask seller to make a specific mask for her, though...

Apart from Crocetta, she also has three raging fiends... Apart from one. The Playboy Crown Prince, the Misanthrope Duke, and the devout holy Knight. The Playboy Crown Prince, AKA Etienne Eugene Lortinique, loves spending time with different women, but that was before he met Crocetta. Meeting her took a very grave turn for him. At first, he wanted to either kill her or use her as a weapon, but beneath that was an obsessive fool who wanted to have her for himself, and boy, does he try to achieve it. Etienne has short blonde hair and blue eyes, like any male lead in historical manhwa (I don't want him to be the male lead...) He is handsome and very seductive. I wouldn't say he's that handsome, regarding my taste, but he is quite the gem. His relationship with the other love interest is quite expected, being the noble crown prince, the others have to respect him. He is a calculating, cunning individual, and I can't wait for the female lead to beat his ass.

The Misanthrope Duke, Arnold Wassenburg. A man who is calculating and would rather have a modest life than the crown prince. He is very quiet and tends to enjoy nature, rather than indulging himself in lust or love. Meeting Crocetta's eyes, however, his feelings became troubled, and he ended up falling in love with the female lead, like the others. He's got black hair, tan skin, red eyes, and a very muscular build. He isn't really my type, but I can see why some people find him attractive. In my opinion, I think he's kind of boring; the only characteristic I like is that he wants Crocetta to smile. In my opinion, I don't think I like him very much.

The devout holy knight, Roger Darklet. This is my favourite. Roger is a holy knight, someone who can't indulge in romantic or sexual interaction. He is truly a knight; many people love him, and he helps the main character in all sorts of situations. To me, he is the best choice out of the three. Appearance-wise, he is also not that bad-looking; he's got white hair and yellow eyes. (Reminds me of Ijekiel from, who made me a princess) And he is muscular!! Being a love interest, he is also impacted by Crocetta's charm. However, at first, he did not quite seem to understand what he was feeling, but as time passed by, he soon felt like the others. His love, though, was that of a yearner and someone who is not as obsessed with keeping her. He does have his dark times, though, however, not as bad as the other two.

What does it do well on?

I believe this manhwa does really well at maintaining the female lead's goals and showing her mental stability throughout the time that she has spent in the game. It really shows how she is slowly descending into madness, not like your typical romance, which is like a plane steadily flying. I wouldn't really say I would read it for the romance aspect, but I really did enjoy it for the certain elements that would make me uncomfortable and frustrated. I really want this to be completed because I want to see if she ends up having a happy ending with one of the love interests, or she decides to live alone and isolated from anyone. If I were to prefer an ending, it would be her exiting that life and living in a life of solitude. It's not a happy ending, but it's an ending that would settle the heart mostly. Crocetta, half of the time, makes me super frustrated, but I can see why she makes those decisions. Can I say I just love how she has explicitly explained and knows that the male leads aren't in love with her for pure love? It really shows that she is not ditsy. This is probably rare for me to want the female lead to end up with no one, but in these circumstances, I think it would be way nicer. I also like the dynamics of the male leads and how each of them expresses love and obsession; this goes with supporting characters, too, such as someone's mother who expresses maternal love instead of romantic love. I do believe the female lead needs a weapon, though, because ain't no way I'm going to be facing people that could potentially pounce on me and not stab them. Like, logically, that would make sense. Overall, this manhwa does frustrate me, but it does really well on the horror aspect rather than romance.

Spoiler Section (Read at your own risk):

Hi to people who may have read the manhwa! Honestly, I really hate Arnold. He may have said he wanted to protect Crocetta and kill whoever is hurting her, BUT TO HURT ROGER IS A DIFFERENT STORY. Like, okay, we can excuse Arnold for just thinking that Roger was hurting her, but Crocetta explains to him after this how much Roger is to her. YET BRO STILL GETS THE CROWN ASS LOOKING PRINCE TO TURN UP ON THEIR FRONT DOOR OF THE HIDEOUT. Oh, and the crown prince could have seriously had the potential to be like a funny yet flirtatious friend, but no, he is a psycho. Asking her to be empress is one thing, but then drugging her and forcing her to be by your side all the time is not the way to go. I seriously love Roger. Anyways I hope you enjoyed my review.

My Little Monster by Robico

 16/04/26

The Plot:

The romance manga, My Little Monster, was written and illustrated by Robico on August 23rd 2008. Follows an intelligent and studious girl, Shizuku Mizutani, encountering the supposed wild card Haru Yoshida, a boy who stopped going to school a while ago. Shizuku has no interest in the boy Haru, having studied as her priority, rather than making friends. However, Shizuku is touched by Haru's innocence and lack of knowledge of human relationships and decides to acknowledge Haru more than anyone. Haru is viewed as a violent, uncontrollable person at school, but he is actually kind and gentle. After a while, he confesses his love for Shizuku, throwing a huge spanner in her study. What will Shizuku do?

Discovery and Opinion:

Hi everyone, Mocha here, and currently school is around the corner... Help. Soon, I have to do a legal studies report about rehabilitation. I hope that I am not too busy, as I might not be able to upload reviews weekly. Anyways, I discovered My Little Monster during year 5, I believe. Back then was the time I first started discovering many animes, and this one was one of them. I had my fair share of good anime and trash anime. This one, I believe was actually very enjoyable. Heck, I used the male lead's name for Kahoot and used to always win with it in year 6. At the time, I had only watched the anime and wasn't that interested in manga (That was until I discovered Toilet-Bound Hanako Kun). Only this week, I finally gave myself some time to read every volume. It was sort of a refresher, as I forgot a few scenes, such as Asako and her little attraction. I would say the anime really felt like good comedy back when I was young, but maybe now that I'm older, I don't find many things funny. In my opinion, this manga didn't wow me entirely, but it's definitely a good read and a classic romance manga in my opinion. The characters are funny, and the drama honestly doesn't frustrate me. Anyways let me introduce and explain the characters. This manga has also made me realise my interest in being a tuna fisherman.

Characters:

Shizuku Mizutani is the female lead. She has long light brown hair (Usually in two low ponytails) and dark brown eyes. She does not stand out, but her hair design is unique compared to the characters in the manga. I would say she is middle-class and takes her studies very seriously, due to not socialising with people. To everyone, she is 'dry ice', but whenever she is with Haru, she is the exact opposite (Only sometimes, though). She is a modest character and does not care much about appearance. What I enjoyed about her is how brutally honest she can be, having no worries of offending people, even calling out fake friends. She is flawed, but in a way the audience can understand, and I enjoy that part of her. Besides being fairly logical and composed, Haru brings a new side to her and challenges beliefs that even Shizuku has trouble understanding.

Haru Yoshida, the wild card male lead. He has slightly long, wavy hair and black eyes. Haru has a handsome appearance and stands out among people. He lives with his cousin Mitsuyoshi and tends to help out at the baseball place he owns. Haru is a complex character. The way people view him is like a delinquent, but instead, Haru is awkward around people staring at him, and enjoys the company of people he loves. In general, Haru's personality is fairly passionate and very loud, contrasting with Shizuku's quiet and focused exterior. Despite being very talkative, though, he mysteriously hides a part of himself from others, such as his family, questioning whether Haru's relationship with his family may be very torn. I quite like Haru's character; he is talkative but not that talkative, in that he will tell you everything. He is a fairly funny character and tends to make me laugh.

Asako and Sohei are the supporting characters in the manga and become friends with the two as the story progresses. Asako has light brown hair and, to her peers, is one of the most attractive girls in the school. To many, it may seem like an advantage, but to Asako, it is like a curse, in which many girls tend not to talk to her. Sohei, on the other hand, is a popular guy who plays baseball; he is sociable and tends to be very likable. I believe what they contribute to the manga and relationship is comfort and different opinions that people may have. I love these two, especially Asako. Her love life may be all wacky, but in general, she is a great and loyal friend to both Haru and Shizuku. At times, she even tries to get Haru and Shizuku to interact and push away people who may also have affection towards the two. However, Asako also allows people to confess their love towards both of them, not entirely disregarding their feelings.

Kenji Yamaguchi was one of Haru's 'good friends', that was until Shizuku went to confront him about how Yamaguchi handles friendships. He has straight, neat blonde hair and attends a separate high school from many of the characters. His role in the manga is significant in making Haru understand and push to tell his feelings to Shizuku. I also believe he is significant when revealing the past, when Haru was unable or didn't feel like doing so. He and his group of friends really help the comedy aspect of the anime and manga. From having little fights with Haru to running away like they had seen a bear. It also helps develop Haru's character and how the audience can understand how he feels and understands friendships.

Overall, the characters and the art style accompanying them are very well done. In the manga, there is a character I do dislike and wish I got to see more of, or understand more, though. But to be honest, some were just outright creepy.

What did it do well on?

The manga, My Little Monster, is a great classic romance in the shoujo world. I wouldn't say it's entirely the best manga, but it is a good one for when you're trying to find an old romance. I also enjoyed that Haru actually didn't say a line that was in the anime in one of the scenes; it really made me like him more. Despite that, though, I did not like some of the things he did, such as licking her hand without her consent. It does have its good elements, though, such as introducing the balance of relationships and studies, which, in my opinion, is an element most people struggle with. I also liked how light-hearted it was, such as the characters building a chicken coop for the chicken Haru took in. I also enjoyed Haru and how different he was when he was with his family compared to Shizuku. It really made me think about how much he cherishes her.

Overall, this manga was a little treat for me. I like the light heartedness compared to the many works I have read that are just trauma fuel. I am so happy I got to read this manga, as it has been on my mind for about 7 years, which is super long, and I wish I could just turn back time and watch it when I first discovered it.

On the Way to Meet mum by Gomyang

 10/04/26

The Plot:

The fantasy adventure manhwa, On the Way to Meet Mum, was written and illustrated by Gomyang. Follows the little boy, Mori, as he is rescued from a children's protection center. There, he learns new ways of life, one that includes grand care packages sent by a mysterious patron. But when his closest friends reunite with their mother and leave the center, Mori learns for the first time about the existence of a mother for every child, and decides to embark on a journey to find his own. But what sort of obstacles wait along the way? (Webtoon).

Discovery and Opinion:

Hi everyone!! I am here to review another manhwa, and this time it is not a romance *Gasp* and doesn't have a yandere male *Double Gasp*. Like, honestly, I feel like there should just be two tags for my blog, Yandere and not Yandere, haha. In the meantime, talking about the blog, should I call you guys names? Like Coffee Enjoyers? or Readin' Roast? I have no idea, I don't think I'm famous for that lol. Anyways, I discovered this manhwa on a random Tuesday on Webtoon. I think I read it last year and remembered crying in certain chapters. Almost like Kotaro Lives Alone, which, if you haven't watched the anime, you need to!!
This series really felt like an emotional ride, and I just adored Mori. If I saw him in real life, I would protect him until my heart stopped beating. I don't remember much, but I really loved the interesting character designs, as I have not read many manhwas that have aliens or creatures (I really need to). The story is set in a world where humans and creatures coexist, but I believe they aren't on mutual terms with each other. The creatures live in an area separate from humans.

Characters:

Well, there are numerous characters I can discuss with the many unique character designs there are, though I will be discussing only three due to my lack of memory of other characters. First off, we have Mori, the little kid protagonist. In the beginning, he is found by the children's protection and is shown to look like a beast. His hair is long and messy, his skin scarred up, and his eyes show distress, setting up future events. As soon as he is taken into an orphanage, the boy is well groomed, and he even receives money from an unknown sponsor. "Who is the Sponsor?" You may ask. (Go read the manhwa, honestly, I think that is a must.) I believe this sponsor also handed Mori the little cape he has, and I have to say it really makes Mori stand out from many by looking like an adventurer. Mori, in general, barely speaks. He relies heavily on facial expression and body language, and I love that. He is so cute, and just reading this, I wanna take care of him myself. Bro, just look!!

Now, when this little guy embarks on a journey to find his mum, he encounters a devil named Rider, a marksman engineer who, alongside his robot invention/companion, is also embarking on his own journey. To the ladies or gentlemen who love yourselves a hot motorcycle guy, this is your one. He is a handsome demon with messy white hair and red skin. He has several green eyes scattered across his face symmetrically, and it looks epic. I tend to not like white-haired guys, but man, this one has piqued my interest. Rider's personality seems to be a very friendly individual, who may have malicious desires. When becoming close to Mori, though, he seems to change into a guy who generally cares about the kid, protecting and saving him from others. He is like Qi Rong from TGCF, except Qi Rong is just a tad messed up lol.

Lastly, we have Miria. Taking a look at her, she appears to be a biblical angel with her white hair and the six wings emerging. These wings curve like a halo and have glowing eyes appear. She is both divine and unnerving. Like a being that is angelic or is far superior. She also has four arms emerging from her, and her face is dark, followed by her eyes being only white. Miria's clothes resemble a nun-like dress and could express the character's modesty and nun-like attitude. She is intelligent, soft-spoken, and fairly kind, showing empathy to Mori. She spends most of her time studying, absorbed in her books, making Miria a favourable character.

The art style for this manhwa is amazing, and I just love how detailed the characters are!! Like they are all their own character and have very different features, apart from them not being human. I believe the demonstration of Mori's emotions was really cute, and I just enjoyed his tantrums because, after all, he is still a kid.

What does it do well on?

The thing that this manhwa does well is convey a sense of adventure and hopefulness. The number of times my heart dropped, and I felt like crying was many. I believe it would definitely rip at your soul, just like Kotaro Lives Alone. I really enjoyed the interactions with Mori and Rider; it just felt like a father-son bonding. Especially from action scenes!!! Now, if you're interested, I'm begging you to go read it. It is wholesome and will really brighten up your day. Now I can't remember any cons to this, so you are in for a treat.

Secret Alliance by Lero

09/04/26

The Plot:

The romantic thriller Secret Alliance, written and illustrated by Lero. Follows the high school girl, Eun Sian. She is popular with the girls, being surrounded by them. Unfortunately for her, though, it just happens that she is terrified of men, not being able to communicate or even be near one, due to her mother's obsession with protecting her. Meanwhile, Eun Sian has made a friend, Yuri, a purple-haired beauty who seems to admire her. But it seems that Yuri's admiration for Eun Sian seems to be something more, and that she is willing to have her to herself. Will Yuri's admiration turn into obsession?

Mocha's note:

Hi everyone!!! I haven't been reading any manhwas or manhuas recently. Or mangas lately O_O. Recently, I have been watching a few anime (Jujutsu Kaisen, Charlotte, Diabolik Lovers) and am currently reading a danmei (Mao Dao Zu Shi), which I will review once I am finished. The manhwa Secret Alliance, on the other hand, is an older read from when I was around grade 8, so I may not remember much. I do remember how much I loved how unique it was back then. Additionally, this was one of the more tamer reads back then... Anyway, let's get into the review.

Discovery and Character Design:

Well, I found Secret Alliance when I was scrolling on YouTube (I must've searched up Yandere Male or something because this popped up). Now, to those who may not have read it, you may be asking, "Yandere Male, how can that be?" Well, unfortunately, you're going to have to read it to find out. Fortunately for those who don't want to read it, I will add a spoiler section. Originally, I also thought this was a GL, and to my surprise, it wasn't.  Especially on how pretty the two main female leads are. Eun Sian is the main character and has short baby blue hair that is unique, following her slightly darker blue eyes. I guess her having short hair is to make sure she does not draw attention to herself. In a way, in some people's eyes, she could look masculine or like a very brave woman, except she wasn't. She tends to be a fairly scared person and expresses confidence when she is with women.

Yuri, the random girl who suddenly happened to become friends with her, is described quite differently. In some people's eyes, she is an innocent, feminine woman. She has long purple hair, along with her beaming purple eyes, and wears cute dresses, contrasting with Eun Seon. Yuri is a very energetic girl and often only shows affection to Seon. When other guys or girls approach her, she seems to show a dislike. In general, Yuri's appearance and personality give comfort to Seon.

Another core character in the manhwa is the guy Hyun Yujin. He is Eun Sian's coworker and a playboy. He has long blonde hair put in a man bun and brown eyes. I believe his hair shows how much of a majestic character he is. He resembles a lion, and I actually feel that with his personality as well. He is a prideful individual and seems like a very loyal man to people he actually likes.  He is by far the only man Eun Seon has been the closest to and is able to form a friendship with. Bonus, he looks really good in the end chapters >.<.

The art style in this manhwa is amazing, and I believe the colours really suit the characters. Blue for Seon sort of expresses this innocence she has or timidness, whilst Yuri's purple can show that she can be overwhelming, and who knows, many Disney villains are symbolised with purple, so she may symbolise evil. Notably, Yujin has a welcoming aura around him because, I mean, who does not like a man bun? (Some people, but I'll ignore that. Bonus, his hair is also blonde and bright, which can create a sense of heroism because he is like the sun. This expresses how much thought Lero might have put into the characters, and I, for one, quite enjoy them. They are all very easy to recognise, like I could go "THE PURPLE ONE!!" and you would immediately get that I'm talking about Yuri, if you were reading the manhwa.

What does it do well on?

Overall, I really liked this manhwa. The concepts, the ideas, they were all so well developed, and even the pacing! Like it didn't take millions of years to get to the end. Whilst some do well with long stories, I was glad this one was short. It just felt like each episode added more meaning and didn't have a lot of unnecessary things. Lero does an amazing job at developing her characters, and I was glad Seon started developing and healing her trauma. The ending, some may argue that they preferred another love interest, but I believe that who the main character ended up with was the best choice, and that the other guy had a better ending than the one he sought out for himself. By far, this manhwa does a great job of expressing suspense and a sense of uneasiness. I believe this would do well for a beginner's first suspense. It's not too messed up and has a little to no blood. So I would definitely recommend this for a beginner or even someone who enjoys yandere males. So if you're reading this post and you enjoy what you're reading, please go and read the manhwa!!

Spoiler Section
Read at your own risk!!!

Alright, to everyone who may or may not have read the manhwa, the fact that Yuri was her childhood friend who locked her in a shed due to her psycho mother wanting to move her away after finding out Chae Yul was Seon's boyfriend, blew my mind. He was generally so adorable as a kid. How did bro turn into a menace :(. I honestly enjoyed every single part. Unfortunately, I did not like the part where she just let Yuri do anything to her body when she was sad, like bro, you can't just let a girl touch you because you're sad!!! I know bro was having a fun time too, having all Seon's attention, but she was miserable as hell!

Oh, and okay, since I read this in year 8, the scene where he sneaks back into his room and starts doing some not-so-appropriate stuff, LITTLE ME THOUGHT BRO WAS HAVING A GODDAMNN FEVER, AND THAT'S WHY HE HAD SO MUCH TISSUES AND WAS BREATHING HEAVILY... Boy, was I wrong. It was funny when she caught him in the act, though. It would have been scary as hell, finally realising Yuri has been your ex-boyfriend all this time, but I can't stop laughing because I thought he was just blowing his nose.

In my opinion, I liked the ending for Chae Yul. Bro has shown willingness to change and gave up on pursuing Seon, letting her be with Yujin. Like he started to do manual labor and wrote a valid apology to her, like I'm actually happy he didn't pull out a ukulele, unlike someone. Honestly, this was insane, and I think I enjoy a hopeless Yandere that crossdresses hehe.
