Scumbag Villains Self Saving System by MXTX

 21/02/26

Scumbag Villains Self-Saving System by MXTX is a Romance Danmei that centres around a trashtalker commentator transmigrator named Shen Qingqiu. He transmigrates as the novel's antagonist, Shen Jiu, who, in the original telling, was turned into a human stick by his disciple and protagonist, Luo Binghe. Shen Qingqiu remembers to make sure he doesn't upset Luo Binghe whilst balancing the role of an antagonist, so that the game system doesn't deduct points. What he doesn't know, though, is that being friendly towards Luo Binghe had turned the story into a very different genre.

I first discovered this Danmei when I was scrolling through YouTube. I came across the Donghua of it, and at the time, was looking to watch something after my first Danmei, Heaven Officials Blessing. I would say the Donghua was quite amusing, and I enjoyed Shen Qingqiu's reactions because he is such a drama queen. Though after reading the Danmei, I am disappointed that they did not add Luo Binghe's curly hair. This would have fit so much because his curly hair is described to be like a sheep, I believe, and usually sheep are portrayed as innocent. Boy, do I have news. The Donghua had stopped at the key part of Luo Binghe's transformation, and so I decided to read the Danmei.

Reading the Danmei, I found it quite funny (I am a sucker for comedy, just wait until I write about TGCF in Autumn. Qi Rong is getting the biggest mention.) The way it would get quite intense at some parts, and hearing the thoughts of Shen Qingqiu, just made it so messy in a good way. Like, what do you mean you think Luo Binghe is straight? Have you seen the way that man looks and yearns for you? Not to mention, bro did not kill him after he had come back up from that pit. When he was imprisoned, Luo Binghe did not release him and instead accidentally tore off his clothes, like it was a sheet of paper. Made me laugh so hard I had to put my phone down and go walking around the house like a headless chook.

After this, Shen Jiu's story was then told. It was sad the way he grew up, being someone who would get constantly abused and used as a servant. This did not justify his actions, though, when it came to harassing a female disciple. It was also revealed that a sect leader called Yue Qingyuan was possibly his soulmate in the original timeline. Unfortunately, since he was turned into a human stick, this could never happen. He was a childhood friend of Shen Jiu and showed a lot of care towards him in his younger years, even helping him to be a shizun, despite murdering his abuser.

Anyways after this information, Shen Qinggiu later explodes inside. I won't say how, but you can read it for yourself (despite literally spoiling some information.)  Luo Binghe is very distraught, keeping the corpse of his master and not giving it a proper burial, or to his friend Liu Qingge. This is where it gets quite funny. Shen Qingqiu isn't actually dead and managed to be inside another body or husk persay. He avoids him as much as possible, but then stumbles upon Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge fighting. Shen Qingqiu's corpse is in Luo Binghe's hands, half clothed. Which raised the question. What on earth is he doing to my corpse? This scene will always be iconic to me, like you're in the room and you're seeing two people fight over your corpse (I would faint just like how Shen Qingqiu did in the Donghua). Anyways, after this or before I forgot the chronological order. Another Iconic scene that I just wanted to share is when Shen Qingqiu is just like, "He is straight, but why does he not take any women in?" The past Luo Binghe actually had a harem, so this question was quite funny. He manages to get into Luo Binghe's dream. Not being able to see his shizun due to him exploding their were many of him in the dream (Bro was a sad lover boy). Shen Qingqiu, feeling empathetic, goes up to him because what is the worst that can happen? He can't be spotted, nor can he be suddenly killed. He didn't expect Luo Binghe's lips to be on his, though. Afterall he thought he was straight, that was when he was wrong.

There were other characters in the story, such as the actual author being a twink servant to a demon and being discovered by only saying a swear word. He was quite funny when paired with the main character, but I did not really enjoy reading about his relationship with his demon boyfriend. His demon boyfriend, Mobei Jun, was so ass though, so I skipped their extras. We also had Luo Binghe's father and cousin. His father did not seem to care about Luo Binghe as much, planning to murder him for his strength. He was, though, the biggest shipper in the novel. When he discovered the main character in the bed with him and his cousin, he just smirked (got me cackling fr).

Furthermore, this Danmei was quite enjoyable. With the characters adding to the comedic aspect.  It was not as good as TGCF when it came to storytelling and romance. It was nicely written, though, and made me manage to put it down and laugh. Shen Qingqiu trying to convince himself as being straight was amusing to see.

Bossy President by ICiyuan

 17/02/26

Bossy President by ICiyuan is a Chinese romance manhua that follows the main character, Shi Xiao Nian (Nina Sze), as she is caught in a major misunderstanding with a high-ranking CEO, Oh Gong, also known as Aubrey Kung. Together they face hardships and challenges, including Xiao Nian Shi's family and blind friend Quan Chu Mu, and Oh Gong's trauma and paranoia, to form a relationship together.

I plan to release a review on a manhua, as many of my reviews have been on manhwas. Boy, do I have a tale to tell you with this one...So when I was going through primary school, I encountered a Gacha Life series based on this. Yeah, well, to inform you, I was a gacha kid T-T. Being new to the manhua space, I actually went on to search this up. I remember looking at this image of Oh Gong eating the main character's ice cream. This was actually my first manhua, surprisingly, and now that I look at it, I really shouldn't have read this (Like Diabolik Lovers, but that is for another time). Anyways, little me actually managed to read this piece of garbage for at least 400+ chapters, and then I decided to drop it. Yes, it is garbage, and I don't think anything will change my mind.

First off, we as the audience are put in such a bad scenario at the very start. The female lead is at a sauna, and all of a sudden, Oh Gong and his goons open the sauna door, like, bro, have you heard of privacy? Then, to make it even wore he asks her, "Where is my child?" LIKE BRO WHAT-. When little me read this, she was completely fine, but I now want to throw my damn hands... I must have had half a brain because bro literally did illegal stuff. Also, she is literally kidnapped at the very start and held at gunpoint by him. I honestly felt super bad for her; he was plain abusive and was justified by his paranoia that he had to get sedated for. Like, I get it, your brother was in a car crash, and a lot of stuff happened, but it did not justify your actions. He even puts Xiao Nian Shi in the forest for a few days without food or water, like he should be behind bars.

Now I just want to mention the main character's blind friend Mu. He was once a blind boy who was childhood friends with the main character and could have been the main character's potential love interest if her sister had not interfered, that is. Mu had his blindness fixed and often took medication for it; this medication was some drug that erased his memories. LIKE SERIOUSLY JUST WHY UGHHH. With his memories erased, he would have the main character's sister manipulate his thoughts about the MC so that he would hate her. I felt really bad for him, and I seriously wanted him to be endgame, other than that piece of trash, Gong. In my opinion, Mu was quite a decent guy. He hated the male lead and had apologized for his actions, unlike that garbage. This is where it all goes wrong, though, and I completely blame it on the author and not his character. Mu actually went into a mad spiral. He loved the main character so much that I believe he kidnapped her. Seriously, though, I think this was the author's way of making the audience hate Mu's character and favour that abusive asshole.

Ugghhhhhh, anyway, do I have any positive feedback about this?

Particularly, I don't, unless you want the trashiest drama, go ahead. The art is pretty nice, but overall, the storyline and the characters are just horrible.

A Summer Night's Dream by Kim Su Bak

 14/02/26

The manhwa A Summer Night's Dream by Kim Su Bak is a romance story that follows the female lead and teacher Yeoreum Han as she plays the important role of Cupid. She has the ability to enter into students' dreams, and with this, she is able to manipulate the dreams to her will. This ability is later revealed to a student who can lucid dream, Si-u Park, forcing them to navigate the growth of love and friendship together.

Happy Valentines day, everyone!! Right now I am chilling at home, as my boyfriend happens to be on the otherside of the country, hehe. I happened to buy a few items for my saxophone, though, and I am excited to do many lessons! Anyways, since it was Valentines day, I thought a book that is heavily about romance and Cupid should be the next review. However, I had read this book a long time ago, so I may be quite vague in this review. Let me just tell you how I first discovered this, though. I think I was around year 7 when I first read this. At that moment in time, I think I was quite fresh on Webtoon. I think at that time I was living with my nan's and would sneakily read until late. (Sorry about that, Nan.) I happened to come across this and caught a glimpse of the artstyle which was the first thing that caught my eye. The title cover felt like something you would see in K-dramas. So I gave it a read and actually managed to finish it. I think I quite enjoyed how relaxing it felt. I also think I managed to read this manhwa due to how funny it was and generally the cool concepts that were involved. I do believe their were discussion about suicide relating to the male lead, but I believe it did make me feel a little bit emotional.

Uhm, I do have to mention that it is sort of a student x teacher romance. I hate this trope. I have no idea why a lot of books have it. For me, it irks me a lot. I see teachers as mentors and nothing else. I believe she is a student teacher and has not much of an age gap; however, it is still a bit uncomfortable.

I wonder if anyone is reading this. Would you like to be Cupid?

I'll give you my answer. Seeing people happy is one thing I would perhaps enjoy about being a cupid. Though I believe love should not be meddled with. Perhaps a push, but not gently pulling at the strings. I may had a different opinion when I was younger, growing up, though I have seen negative impacts in meddling with others' romantic feelings.

Anyways, this manhwa I remember many feelings from it. It is a bit tough to remember plot points on it. Sometimes I wish I had written my reviews back then... The artstyle and comedy were great. I generally remember feeling refreshed after reading this. So, with my vague description, you could also try reading this manhwa. I hope your Valentine's is great!

I give this a:

Trapped by Haemuri

 31/01/26

Trapped by Haemuri is a romance manhwa that centres around taxi driver, Han Chae Ah, as she navigates herself into a very dangerous situation. A man at the church she goes to turns out to be a vampire, who had just assigned her the role of being his body delivery. Unfortunately, Han Chae Ah cannot report him to the police because of her criminal record, so she devises ways to stop him or escape safely. What she didn't know was that she would end up forming an alliance with him, on the contrary.

This one has to be my second favourite manhwa. For those who didn't know, I'm a sucker for vampire romances and this one excels. I had found this manhwa a couple of years ago when scrolling for... surprise, even more yandere content lol. Suprisingly I saw the cover to this way before and didn't bother reading it, due to thinking it was an action manhwa (maybe Park Yoon Soo looked like he was someone from an action manhwa??) I was surprised to know that it wasn't tough and decided to jump straight in. At the start, it was like a rollercoaster, and I did not enjoy the male lead as much because of how he treated Chae Ah, but then he decided to grow on me. After all, how are vampires supposed to survive without blood? Though I completely disagree with what he did to her. It takes ages to get to the romance, and trust me, I think it was worth it. I just enjoyed how they had separate goals until they aligned due to encountering conflict. To me, that's what made the chemistry, in my opinion.

I also enjoyed the art style, which was quite different from many and started to evolve over time. I believe I recommended this to a friend, and they told me how they couldn't read it due to it, but I believe it is worth it. It honestly just marks the author's progress over time and their willingness to improve, and that is what I love to see. Both Yoon Soo and Chae Ah look so good, though. I love Chae Ah's eyes, how vicious she is, and her strong mind, and Yoon Soo's calmness, yet when it comes to Chae Ah, he changes a lot. She brings many problems to him at the very start because, of course, she would, bro literally made her be his accomplice. I love the chaotic relationship they have. Instead of Chae Ah falling head over heels for Yoon Soo, she decides to put herself first. The trauma from her past relationship impacts her majorly at that point, and it shows when she describes her feelings for Yoon Soo as something she will hate. Which, honestly, was sad, but it really drew me to her character.

Also, I will say this story really enticed me to read more after they had gotten together. Usually, when it comes to stories like those, I put it off. It just kept going, though, and even had an arc that I extremely love and cannot spoil, where she is extremely mad with Park Yoon Soo.

I have to give a thorough review later, because I even love the side characters. School is honestly burning me out, though, and I want to take some time to do my studies. I hope you like this review and give it a shot. It's a great manhwa if you're looking for angst and romance. It's especially a enemies to lovers done right.
