Bossy President by ICiyuan is a Chinese romance manhua that follows the main character, Shi Xiao Nian (Nina Sze), as she is caught in a major misunderstanding with a high-ranking CEO, Oh Gong, also known as Aubrey Kung. Together they face hardships and challenges, including Xiao Nian Shi's family and blind friend Quan Chu Mu, and Oh Gong's trauma and paranoia, to form a relationship together.
I plan to release a review on a manhua, as many of my reviews have been on manhwas. Boy, do I have a tale to tell you with this one...So when I was going through primary school, I encountered a Gacha Life series based on this. Yeah, well, to inform you, I was a gacha kid T-T. Being new to the manhua space, I actually went on to search this up. I remember looking at this image of Oh Gong eating the main character's ice cream. This was actually my first manhua, surprisingly, and now that I look at it, I really shouldn't have read this (Like Diabolik Lovers, but that is for another time). Anyways, little me actually managed to read this piece of garbage for at least 400+ chapters, and then I decided to drop it. Yes, it is garbage, and I don't think anything will change my mind.
First off, we as the audience are put in such a bad scenario at the very start. The female lead is at a sauna, and all of a sudden, Oh Gong and his goons open the sauna door, like, bro, have you heard of privacy? Then, to make it even wore he asks her, "Where is my child?" LIKE BRO WHAT-. When little me read this, she was completely fine, but I now want to throw my damn hands... I must have had half a brain because bro literally did illegal stuff. Also, she is literally kidnapped at the very start and held at gunpoint by him. I honestly felt super bad for her; he was plain abusive and was justified by his paranoia that he had to get sedated for. Like, I get it, your brother was in a car crash, and a lot of stuff happened, but it did not justify your actions. He even puts Xiao Nian Shi in the forest for a few days without food or water, like he should be behind bars.
Now I just want to mention the main character's blind friend Mu. He was once a blind boy who was childhood friends with the main character and could have been the main character's potential love interest if her sister had not interfered, that is. Mu had his blindness fixed and often took medication for it; this medication was some drug that erased his memories. LIKE SERIOUSLY JUST WHY UGHHH. With his memories erased, he would have the main character's sister manipulate his thoughts about the MC so that he would hate her. I felt really bad for him, and I seriously wanted him to be endgame, other than that piece of trash, Gong. In my opinion, Mu was quite a decent guy. He hated the male lead and had apologized for his actions, unlike that garbage. This is where it all goes wrong, though, and I completely blame it on the author and not his character. Mu actually went into a mad spiral. He loved the main character so much that I believe he kidnapped her. Seriously, though, I think this was the author's way of making the audience hate Mu's character and favour that abusive asshole.
Ugghhhhhh, anyway, do I have any positive feedback about this?
Particularly, I don't, unless you want the trashiest drama, go ahead. The art is pretty nice, but overall, the storyline and the characters are just horrible.
2/10
