Mocha's note:
Hi everyone!! Sorry, I haven't been posting lately. I've been busy with school work and learning the saxophone, so I can barely be on my laptop sometimes. I hope you're enjoying my reviews even though no one might even look at them T-T. This review is about an unfinished manhwa, but honestly, I can't wait to read more.
Classmate by Sooriboo follows the main character Eunha, a lonely girl, who is mainly a target for bullying by three people. She goes to a school that has an abandoned building, which she tends to stay in during break. This building has a lot of rumors about spirits, so people decide not to go near it. One day, though, Eunha's bullies lock her in a locker in the building and summon a ghost. Not thinking their actions were going to conjure a ghost, they decide to leave her in the locker and leave. What they didn't know was that their summoning had worked, and now the ghost was out to get them for revenge.
So, like all manhwas I read, I stumbled across this one through Instagram. It was an edit, and honestly, I liked the ghost guys' form. It creeped me out, but it was so cool having a male lead not look like a prince character for once. This is my fault, however, as I indulge myself in those types of books.
Just yesterday, actually, I was scrolling the yandere male reddit, because I had nothing better to do, and there the manhwa was. If you have been reading my reviews, you would know how much I am a sucker for yandere male leads. There's just this fascination I have with them. *cough.... cough* Caleb from Love and Deepspace. Turns out the guy in the manhwa may turn into a yandere. I mean, he has got the potential, bro literally killed the guy who liked her but bullied her. Which is honestly valid, because what do you mean you bully your crush because you like them, it just doesn't make sense. The ghost killed him, though, because I believe he has an ulterior motive, something that may cause destruction to the school; however, Eunha does not know this.
I forgot to mention the ghost is rather possessive or seems to want to keep Eunha by his side at all times. He even explained how he wanted to murder his only friend for leaving him and was rambling on about how he didn't want her to leave. This could be romantic or desperate. At the moment, I, as the audience, have no idea, but I can confirm that the manhwa has some romance in it; you just have to wait.
Overall, the manhwa has an interesting concept, having a ghost male lead who doesn't appear to be what he seems sounds super cool, and to have him be this scary ghost is even better. I reckon you should give this a read. If you enjoy monster male leads and a pinch of horror that might not freak you out, but make you enjoy it.
